During the period from June 21 to 24, Reinhard Mitterbäck from Australia and Stephane Legal from France made a three-day field expedition to Leye-Fengshan Geopark in Guangxi Province on behalf of the Gloabal Geoparks Network (GGN) assisted by UNESECO. They investigated such attractions as the Sanhaimen, Yuanyangdong (Mandarin Duck Cave in meaning) and geo-museum in Fengshan County and the Dashiwei Tiankeng, Chuandong Tiankeng and Huomai Eco-village.

Nearly covering the complete series of subtropical karst landform type of South China, the Geopark is a typical representative of massive karst peak clusters of China. Moreover, its high peak clusters, deep depressions, large Tiankeng, huge caves and giant subterranean rivers vividly reflect the main characteristics of and the propitious conditions for the peak cluster landform development of South China.
