Yangbajing Geopark to be opened in Tibet

The Tibet Autonomous Region government of China has recently approved the opening of a geopark in the Yangbajing area.

Yangbajing Geopark will consist of four sections, covering a total area of 2,500 square kilometers. An investment of 270 million yuan is to be injected into the project, which will be divided into three phases before completion.

The Yangbajing section, which is scheduled to be constructed in the near future, will be the core part of the geopark and will include a geological museum, a geological square and a conservation area for geological remains. Ancient geothermal structures mainly include geothermal outcrops, geothermal lakes and geothermal wetlands.
