The “23rd Annual Conference of Tourism Geology and Geopark Research Sub-society of Geological Society of China” was convoked jointly by Tourism Geology and Geopark Research Sub-society of Geological Society of China (TGGRS, GSC), Department of Geological Environment of the Ministry of Land and Resources (DGE, MLR) and Department of Land and Resources of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (DLR, IMAR) in Erlianhot, Inner Mongolia in the morning of Sept.11
The deputy director of DGE, MLR, Chen Xiaoning, delivered the opening address, followed by the deputy director of DLR, IMAR, Zhao Baosheng who made a speech and then by the secretary of Erlianhot Municipal Commission, Deng Yuelou who gave an address of welcome.
Altogether more than 200 pundits and scholars attended it. During this conference, a certificate of Guinness World Records was awarded for Gigantoraptor erlianensis on one hand; and 75 pundits and scholars made their reports on three areas, i.e. the theories and practices of tourism geology, the construction and management of geoparks and the construction of paleobiologic and dinosaurian geoparks and development strategy of Erlianhot’s tourism, on the other hand.
