Heritage & Culture field trip

The Mallow Field Club visited the Copper Coast Geopark while on their Heritage & Culture field trip. The tour guide on the day was Historian Julian Walton. Members of the club include Charlie Mortell (chairperson), John Capilice (secretary) and Seamus Crowley. The tour was organized by Martha O’Mahony of Heritage & Tourism R&D Dunhill Rural Enterprise Ltd.

The 3rd International conference on Geoparks is taking place at Osnadruck, Germany. Prior to this the 1st Global Geoparks Fair took place on Saturday, 21 June, in the Historic Market Place Osnabrück from 11 - 22 hrs. Opening the event was Walter Hirche, President of German UNESCO Commission and Prof. Dr. Hans-Gert Pöttering, President of the European Parliament. The Copper Coast Geopark had a stand showcasing the Copper Coast Geopark. From 19:00 - 22:00hrs a Public Geopark Party with Irish Folk Music was performed by ‘Hidden Fermanagh’ from Enniskillen, (Fermanagh is the only other European UNESCO site in Ireland). Then on Sunday, 22 June from 11:00 - 18:00, there was the presentation of Global Geoparks. Accompanying Cultural Programme, Food and Drinks. This conference and fair has being organised by Terra.Vita Geopark, Germany. Please note the office will be closed from 19th -25th June.
