Hong Kong Geopark Hotels launch “Photo Matching Game” on Facebook to Promote Geopark Gourmet

Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark strives to promote geo-tourism in collaboration with different stakeholders in innovative ways. Geo-tourism is a tourism activity centred on geological heritage, which also gives visitors the opportunity to appreciate natural attractions, experience local culture and even taste geopark-themed gourmet dishes. Hong Kong Geopark has cooperated with two geopark hotels in Hong Kong to design a series of dishes themed on major geological attractions in Hong Kong, providing both a unique travel experience and tasty and innovative cuisine.

Our geopark hotel counterparts recently launched a brand new Geopark Gourmet Photo Matching game on Facebook (www.facebook.com/lhotelislandsouth). Participants need to “like” the Facebook page, match the geopark-themed dishes with the photos of the respective geological sites within the time limit, and then tag five friends. The first five participants providing the correct answers and completing the required procedure will win a Geopark-themed dinner at a geopark hotel. The matching game has been well-received, with about 300 participants. Social media is a powerful tool for amplifying promotional events, and wise use of this tool may help to promote geo-tourism. Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark will continue to work with different stakeholders to promote geo-tourism.
